“INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT IN A TIME OF CHANGE” IMA CONFERENCE
London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London on 16 June 2005
Drivers for change in the investment management industry will be top of the agenda at the IMA conference, to be held at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London on 16 June 2005.
The conference will debate the main issues affecting investment management as it goes through a period of significant change. Factors such as a new UK Government, the impact of European regulation and the continued debate over the long-term savings provision are all creating a challenging environment for the industry in the UK.
Central to the debate is the competitiveness of the UK as a centre for investment management, on which the IMA, together with the Corporation of London, will shortly be publishing a research paper.
Topics discussed at the conference will cover:
- The forthcoming challenges for investment managers
- Investment management - why the UK?
- Long-term savings for the 21st Century
- Distribution – a key to future success
- Europe – threat or opportunity?
- Investment management – no longer a cottage industry
Speakers will include:
Dan Waters, FSA Steve Britain, HSBC Asset Management John Plender, FT Brian Steeples, Personal Finance Society Jarkko Syrrila, CESR Professor Julian Franks, London Business School Lindsay Tomlinson, BGI Thomas Balk, Fidelity Investments Richard Saunders, IMA Daniel Trinder, HM Treasury Ros Altmann, Pensions Consultant Jerome Hewlett, Merrill Lynch Christine Farnish, NAPF Roger Townsend, Bank of New York Simon Ellis, AXA Investment Managers Max Wright, EMX Company Limited Alan Gadd, Morley Fund Management Mike Marsh, UBS Global Asset Management
Richard Saunders, Chief Executive of the IMA commented:
“We are delighted to be hosting another prominent event on behalf of the industry. The line-up of speakers should ensure a lively debate of, what we believe, are the most fundamental issues affecting our industry for the foreseeable future.”
