MONTHLY SAVINGS – BUILDING UP CAPITAL IN
INVESTMENT FUNDS
You don’t need to have a large lump sum
in order to invest. There is a more manageable way. The
Investment Management Association’s updated
Monthly Savings
fact sheet outlines how you can invest as little as £20 a
month.
Contributing money on a monthly basis
helps you to build up capital whilst benefiting from the
growth prospects offered by the stock market. Your payments
can be debited conveniently from your current account on a
regular basis in the same way that bills are paid.
Regular saving can help to iron out
stock market fluctuations. Investing in a unit trust or OEIC
monthly savings plan means that you are not going to buy all
of your units/shares at the top of the market, which is the
risk when investing a lump sum.
The fact sheet explains how
drip-feeding money into your investment makes it likely that
you will end up paying below average prices for your
units/shares. It provides charts on performance and outlines
how you can save in this way through an ISA.
