UNIT
TRUSTS AND TAX - HOW TO COMPLETE YOUR
2001-2002
TAX RETURN
A
free guide from the Investment Management Association
The Investment Management Association has updated its
factsheet ‘Completing your tax return. What you need to
tell the taxman 2001-2002’, in order to help unit
trust and OEIC investors with the completion of their tax
returns. This
factsheet clearly illustrates what should be included in the
return by using examples of interest and dividend vouchers
along with the appropriate sections of the return itself.
PEP and ISA investors have no tax to pay and need make no
declaration on their tax returns. The PEP/ISA manager will
claim any tax repayable.
Clare Arber, Head of Communications at the IMA commented:
“Tax returns can often be bewildering, even to
people with the most straightforward of investments. However, a unit trust or OEIC investor’s tax position
depends upon the type of distribution received, which in
turn depends on the type of fund in which they invest.
To help investors complete their return, the IMA
has produced this useful, clear and concise guide, which
explains where the information should be shown on the
form. A brief checklist is included in the factsheet to
help ensure that investors have all the details required
to complete their tax return.”
