SENIOR APPOINTMENT AT 

INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION

 

The Investment Management Association (the IMA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gordon Midgley as Director of Research.  This new role has been created to oversee a programme of economic and statistical research under IMA auspices, which is planned to become an increasingly important part of its activities. 

Gordon joins from the Bank of England, where he was Finance Director until earlier this year.  Prior to being its Finance Director, Gordon spent 15 years in the Bank’s economics research division primarily focussing on macroeconomic modelling, forecasting and research in support of the Bank’s input to monetary policy.

Richard Saunders, Chief Executive of the IMA, commented:

“We are delighted to have attracted someone of Gordon’s standing and reputation to this role.  A strengthened research function has always been seen as an important benefit of the merger which created IMA, and under Gordon’s leadership we look forward now to developing it.”

Gordon Midgley added:

“I am looking forwards to helping the IMA advance its programme of economic and statistical research in support of its members.  Fund management issues, in particular risk and return, have increasingly occupied me over recent years and I am pleased to have the opportunity to devote more time to their analysis.”

His appointment is effective immediately.
