ISAs - LOOK AND LEARN BEFORE YOU LEAP

Savers and their advisers looking at ISAs need to be sure of the facts before making any final investment decision. They need to check that the ISA being offered is right for them. Whilst it is possible to change your mind up to 5 April 1999, it may be difficult to do so after that, at least until after 5 April 2000.

AUTIF has outlined a list of basic things to watch for (attached) before taking out an ISA.

Anne McMeehan, Director of Communications at AUTIF, said:

"AUTIF is concerned that some investors may not have considered the full implications of taking out an ISA. It’s imperative that people understand precisely what they are committing themselves to, before deciding on a particular plan. We believe that savers may well find that they have unwittingly locked themselves into a less than ideal solution to their long term savings needs."
